BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
This report is to inform the Council of the following resignation from a City commission.

Rutawari Sharma, who was appointed to a term on the Heritage Preservation Commission on November 29, 2022, and scheduled to serve a term to expire June 30, 2026, has submitted a letter of resignation from the Commission, effective December 28, 2022.

Administrative Policy, Chapter 1, General Management, Article 15 Boards and Commissions, Section 2, Subdivision 8 states that when a resignation letter is received, staff shall prepare an Information Only Report to Council that indicates the resignation(s) and specifies the process that staff recommends to fill the new vacancy.

The Heritage Preservation Commission vacancy will be promoted with the current recruitment process for March 2023 appointments. The application deadline for this recruitment is February 16, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., with interviews tentatively scheduled for February 28, 2023, and appointments in March 2023.

With this resignation, the recruitment includes the following vacancies:
* Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (one vacancy)
* Board of Building Code Appeals* (two vacancies)
* Heritage Preservation Commission (one vacancy)
* Sustainability Commission (one vacancy)

*On November 29, 2022, the City Council directed staff to return with an Ordinance and related actions to dissolve the Board of Building Code Appeals and have City Council serve as the Local Appeals Board as set forth in California Building Code section 1.8.8.1.
