Report

BASIS FOR RECOMMENDATION

The SMaRT Station NexGen Electrical Upgrade Project (Project No. PR-23-01) is the first phase of a larger effort to upgrade the sorting and recycling equipment at the SMaRT Station. It is necessary to provide additional electrical capacity within the facility to power future equipment. The scope of work includes re-purposing an existing office to a new electrical room and installing a new electrical service consisting of a new switchboard, a new concrete equipment pad, new conduit and trenching, and all associated architectural, structural, and electrical work. The project will also improve accessibility in the existing parking lot.

The SMaRT Station NexGen Electrical Upgrade Project (Project No. PR-23-01) was advertised on Demandstar on May 24, 2024. Twenty-Six (26) contractors requested bid documents. Sealed bids were opened on June 12, 2024, with four (4) responsive bids received. Vellutini Corporation DBA Royal Electric Company submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid in the amount of $691,920 (Attachment 1- Bid Summary). With the activities noted above as part of this phase, the contractor has a high likelihood of encountering unforeseen conditions and a 15% construction contingency is warranted.
