STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Take the following actions:
- Award a Consultant Services Agreement to Callander Associates Landscape Architecture, Inc. of San Jose in a not-to-exceed amount of $575,420 for professional services for the San Antonio Park Renovation and Enhancement Project in substantially the same form as Attachment 1 to the report;
- Authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement when all the necessary conditions have been met; and
- Approve a 10% contingency in the amount of $57,542.

BASIS FOR RECOMMENDATION
San Antonio Park, located at 1026 Astoria Drive, is a 5.8-acre neighborhood park originally constructed in 1969. As the facility has aged, a comprehensive renovation and enhancement are needed to improve safety, accessibility, functionality, and the overall park user experience.
The San Antonio Park Renovation and Enhancement Project is intended to address the aging infrastructure and better meet current community needs. Planned improvements include renovating the restroom building based on building evaluation; replacing the existing natural grass athletic field with a new natural grass athletic field, replacing damaged fencing; and upgrading portions of the ornamental landscaping, irrigation systems, park amenities, drainage systems, and concrete pathways. The project is designed to enhance the recreational usability, improve the park's attractiveness, and reduce utility consumption.
Community engagement is a central component of the preliminary design phase. A public outreach plan will be prepared and submitted for review and approval upon start of the project.
