BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
This report is to inform the Council of the following resignation from a City commission.
Tonya Veitch, who was appointed to a term on the Sustainability Commission on May 28, 2024, and scheduled to serve a term to expire June 30, 2028, has submitted a letter of resignation from the Commission, effective May 20, 2025.
Administrative Policy, Chapter 1, General Management, Article 15 Boards and Commissions, Section 2, Subdivision 8 states that when a resignation letter is received, staff shall prepare an Information Only Report to Council that indicates the resignation(s) and specifies the process that staff recommends filling the new vacancy.
The Sustainability Commission vacancy will be promoted with the current recruitment process for May 2025 appointments. The application deadline for this recruitment was April 24, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., with interviews on May 12 and 13, 2025, and appointments on May 20, 2025.
With this resignation, the May 2025 recruitment includes the following vacancies:
* Arts Commission (two vacancies)
* Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (Category One or Category Two, two vacancies)
* Board of Library Trustees (one vacancy)
* Heritage Preservation Commission (one vacancy)
* Housing and Human Services Commission (two vacancies)
* Human Relations Commission (Category One or Category Two, three vacancies)*
* Parks and Recreation Commission (one vacancy)
* Personnel Board, Council-Nominated (one vacancy)
* Planning Commission (one vacancy)
* Sustainability Commission (Category One or Category Two, three vacancies**)
*The Human Relations Commission is expanding from five to seven members beginning July 1, 2025.
**One Sustainability Commission term ending June 30, 2028 and two terms ending June 30, 2029.
