BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
This report is to inform the Council of the following resignation from a City commission.
Morgan Friedlander, who was appointed to a term on the Housing and Human Services Commission on May 28, 2024, and scheduled to serve a term to expire June 30, 2028, has submitted a letter of resignation from the Commission, effective September 12, 2026.
Administrative Policy, Chapter 1, General Management, Article 15 Boards and Commissions, Section 2, Subdivision 8 states that when a resignation letter is received, staff shall prepare an Information Only Report to Council that indicates the resignation(s) and specifies the process that staff recommends filling the new vacancy.
The Housing and Human Services Commission vacancy will be promoted with the current recruitment process for November 2026 appointments. The application deadline for this recruitment is October 29, 2026, at 4 p.m., with interviews on November 9, 2026, and appointments on November 17, 2026.
With this resignation, the November 2026 recruitment includes the following vacancies:
Heritage Preservation Commission (one vacancy)
Housing and Human Services Commission (one vacancy)

Public contact was made by posting the Council meeting agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board at City Hall, at the Sunnyvale Public Library and in the Department of Public Safety Lobby.
