REPORT IN BRIEF
Approval is requested to award a contract in the amount of $1,081,511 to Verde Design, Inc. of Santa Clara for professional design work associated with the Fair Oaks Park Renovation Project and Park Design Standards for Construction Project ("Project") and find that the procurement process for the Park Design Standards for Construction portion is in the best interest of the City; and to approve a contract contingency in the amount of $108,151.

EXISTING POLICY
Pursuant to Chapter 2.08 of the Sunnyvale Municipal Code, contracts for this type of professional services are awarded pursuant to a Request for Proposals (RFP) best value process unless otherwise exempt from competitive bidding. Further, City Council approval is required for contracts exceeding $100,000.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(a) as it has no potential for resulting in either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
This Project will provide design services for a major renovation of the Fair Oaks Park, a 15-acre park facility originally built in 1969 and centrally located within the City. This renovation ensures its sustainability for the future by enhancing recreational usability, increasing attractiveness, and improving accessibility for all potential park users.
