REPORT IN BRIEF
Approval is requested to award a construction contract in the amount of $1,778,642 to Graham Contractors, Inc. of San Jose for Slurry Seal 2025 B SB1 and for approval of a 10% construction contingency in the amount of $177,864.

EXISTING POLICY
Pursuant to Chapter 2.09 - construction of the Sunnyvale Municipal Code, City Council approval is required for construction contracts exceeding $250,000.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This project is exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c), for the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing facilities, including highways, streets and similar facilities, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Slurry Seal 2025 B-SB1 project consists of the installation of 1,339,900 square feet of slurry seal on various street segments along Mathilda Avenue and Wolfe Road (Attachment 3). This project also includes spot asphalt repairs, sewer manhole cover adjustments, and installing thermoplastic pavement striping, markings, legends, green bike lane, and raised pavement markers.

This project provides the opportunity to advance some elements of the Active Transportation Plan (ATP). This project will implement striping improvements and bring striping up to current standards on the streets to be slurry sealed. This project includes the following:
* Enhancing and updating Class IIB buffered bike lanes in the northbound direction of Mathilda Avenue between Iowa and Washington Avenues
