Selection of Name for New City Park at the Vale Development

SUMMARY OF COMMISSION ACTION
The Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) considered this item on June 13, 2018.
The PRC voted to submit three names for consideration and selection by the City Council. The vote was 3-1 with Commissioner Pasque dissenting and Commissioner Alexander III absent. The PRC also voted to prioritize the park names in the following priority order: a) Loren Wiser Memorial Park; b) Jeanine Stanek Park; and, c) Richard Milkovich Park. The vote was 3-0, with Commissioner Pasqua abstaining and Commissioner Alexander III absent. See Attachment 5 - Excerpt of Draft Parks and Recreation Commission summary minutes of June 13, 2018. PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall, at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, Community Center and Department of Public Safety; and by making the agenda and report available at the Sunnyvale Public Library, the Office of the City Clerk and on the City's website.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Select a park name for the new City park at the Vale Development from three names listed in priority order as recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission:
a) Loren Wiser Memorial Park;
b) Jeanine Stanek Park; or
c) Richard Milkovich Park.
2. Select a name from the list of Name the Park entries as noted in Attachment 4.
3. Select a park name as preferred by City Council.
