Proposed Project: Related applications on a 0.77-acre site:
USE PERMIT: to allow construction of a replacement groundwater extraction well at approximately 800 to 1,000 feet below the ground surface, an approximately 56,000-gallon and 24-foot-tall water storage tank, chemical storage cabinets, and associated, equipment, utility and right-of-way improvements.
VARIANCE: to allow 24 feet height, where 17 feet maximum is permitted.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT: Adopt a Resolution to Certify the Environmental Impact Report, adopt a Statement of Overriding Considerations and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program.

DISCUSSION
The purpose of the study session is for staff to provide information about the proposed project (see Site and Architectural Plans in Attachment 1) and instructions for reviewing the project's Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The EIR public comment period runs from May 15 to June 30, 2025 (see Notice of Availability in Attachment 2). Hard copies of the EIR are available upon request to the Planning Commission. An electronic copy is available on the project webpage: https://www.sunnyvale.ca.gov/business-and-development/projects-in-sunnyvale/development-projects/carlisle-well-and-water-tank.
A Planning Commission public hearing to receive comments on the EIR is scheduled for June 23, 2025.
Future public hearings to make a decision on the project and certify the EIR will likely be scheduled in late summer or early fall 2025 and will be subject to required public notification.
