REPORT IN BRIEF
Approval is requested to award a contract to Brad Cox Architect, Inc. of San Jose in an amount not-to-exceed $202,011 for design and construction support services for the Fair Oaks Park Recreation Building Renovation and Skatepark Lighting Project (Public Works Project PR-15-06), and for a 10% design contingency in the amount of $20,201. The contract consists of $168,477 in base services and $33,534 in optional services, as more fully explained below. Approval is also requested for Budget Modification No. 25 to appropriate $1,020,800 in Housing-related Parks Program Grant Funds to provide funding for both project design and construction.

EXISTING POLICY
Consistent with the provisions of Chapter 2.08 of the Sunnyvale Municipal Code, civil engineering design work is solicited through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process, unless otherwise exempt from the competitive bidding process.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This award is for the design phase and is not a project which has the potential for causing a significant effect on the environment under the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") Guidelines section 15061(b)(3), however it is expected that the CEQA determination for the actual construction of this project will be a categorical exemption pursuant to Class 1 Section 15301(a) and (d) for existing facilities.
