EXISTING POLICY
Council Policy 7.4.14, Legislative Advocacy Positions
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
Every year, the Council adopts the City’s advocacy platform which includes the priority advocacy issues for the coming year. On January 10, 2017 Council adopted the Proposed 2017 Priority Advocacy Issues; however, one priority issue was inadvertently left out of the Report to Council. That issue was orally presented to Council on January 10 and was included in the motion approving the 2017 Priority Advocacy Issues. It has been included as #11 Affordable Housing and Homelessness, in Attachment 1, Final 2017 Priority Advocacy Issues. The Council also approved the addition of another issue; it is included as #12 Engagement with the Federal Aviation Administration Regarding Airplane Noise in Attachment 1. Additionally, when reviewing Issue #10 Medical Marijuana/Recreational Marijuana, additional amendments to the third and fourth paragraphs were made to clarify the City’s position and where staff advocacy efforts would be focused. The revised language is included in Attachment 1.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall, at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, Community Center and Department of Public Safety; and by making the agenda and report available at the Sunnyvale Public Library, the Office of the City Clerk and on the City's website.
