BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
A General Municipal Election was held November 6, 2018 for the purpose of filling City Council Seats 1, 2 and 3. The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters canvassed the returns of the election and transmitted a Certification of Election Results to the City Clerk on December 7, 2018. Sunnyvale City Charter Section 601 provides that the four-year terms shall commence at the first regular meeting in January, at which the Council certifies the election results.

Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10263 and City Charter Section 601, the attached resolution details the number of votes cast and percentage of the vote received by each candidate, and declares elected the following persons who have received the highest number of votes cast for each office:

Councilmember Seat Number 1: Gustav Larsson
Councilmember Seat Number 2: Glenn Hendricks
Councilmember Seat Number 3: Mason Fong

The votes cast and percentage of the vote received by each candidate follows in the table below (Councilmember-Elect name shown in bold):
