Call to Order:
Vice Mayor Melton called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Study Session Summary:
City Manager Kent Steffens and City Attorney John Nagel provided the staff report that outlined subcommittee structure options and assigning members to the Subcommittee to Discuss Items of Mutual Interest with Local School Districts.
Councilmembers asked questions and made the following comments:
• Desire to establish a liaison structure with rotation.
• Desire to keep the current standing committee structure.
• Desire to establish a 2:2 structure which would not require a formal meeting, agenda, or reporting back to Council.
• Interest in adding Foothill-De Anza Community College, Mission College and County Board of Education to the list.
• Concerns over lack of continuity with a liaison rotation cycle. The standing committee structure serves as a communication mechanism between agencies.
• What is the desired outcome and role of the standing committee?
• The standing committee serves as a tool to create synergy among the agencies.
Public Comment:
Members of the public made the following comments:
• The standing committee structure allows for transparency.
• The liaison structure allows for consistency.
• It is important to discourage a lobbying environment.
