SUMMARY OF COMMISSION ACTION
The Arts Commission considered this item on January 15, 2020 and ranked the proposals in the following order:
1. James Moore
2. Cork Marcheschi
3. Archie Held (tied)
3. Vickie Jo Sowell (tied)
4. Faducci
The Arts Commission therefore recommends approval of design concept #4 by James Moore.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall, at the Sunnyvale Senior Center and by making the agenda and report available at the Sunnyvale Public Library, the Office of the City Clerk and on the City's website.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Approve the Arts Commission recommendation for design concept #4 by James Moore.
2. Do not accept the Arts Commission recommendation and approve a different design concept.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
There is no staff recommendation for this project. Pursuant to the Art in Public Places procedures, the Arts Commission is authorized to rank the conceptual design proposals and develop a recommendation to the City Council for consideration and final approval. The proposed design by James Moore meets the requirements established for public art for this project.
The approved design proposal will be further developed with oversight from staff to meet the Art in Public Places guidelines within the allocated budget. The final design will be presented to the Arts Commission and City Council as an informational item at a future date.
