REPORT TO COUNCIL

SUBJECT

Title

Mayor’s Endorsement of Candidates for the League of California Cities Peninsula Division Election of Executive Committee Officers 2020/21 (Information Only)

Report

BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION:

Each year the League of California Cities (the “League”) Peninsula Division (“Division”) holds an election of Division Executive Committee Officers at the League’s annual conference. This year’s conference will be held virtually October 7-9.

Any incorporated city in the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara is eligible for Division membership. A member city is represented by its municipal officers. Each member city is entitled to one vote for each position.

Typically, the Peninsula Division requires councils of its member cities take formal action to cast their ballots. On Thursday, September 17, the League requested mayors cast their ballots on behalf of their cities by emailing the Division their votes by Friday, September 25. This did not allow staff to present the ballot to Council at a regular meeting before the deadline.

Staff is presenting this information only item report to inform Council of Mayor’s Klein’s vote. The ballot is included in Attachment 1 (LCC Peninsula Division Ballot 2020/21). Mayor Klein’s email vote is included in Attachment 2 - attachment pending publication.
