REPORT TO COUNCIL

SUBJECT
Title
Introduce an Ordinance Amending Sunnyvale Municipal Code Section 2.29.010 (Electronic Filing of Campaign Statements and Statements of Economic Interests) of the Sunnyvale Municipal Code to Correct Typographical Errors
Report

BACKGROUND
On July 25, 2017, (RTC No. 17-0727) the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 3121-17 mandating electronic filing of campaign statements and statements of economic interests, which was codified as Sunnyvale Municipal Code (SMC) Section 2.29.010. Subsection (a), which addresses statements of economic interests, inadvertently transposed numbers in Government Code Sections 82700 and 83700. The correct Government Code Sections are 87200 and 87300. Consequently, it is necessary to amend SMC Section 2.29.010 to correct these typographical errors.

EXISTING POLICY
Sunnyvale Municipal Code Chapter 2.29 (Electronic Filing)

The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental, organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

DISCUSSION
The Ordinance included as Attachment 1 to the report corrects the errant Government Code Sections in Sunnyvale Municipal Code Section 2.29.010 (Electronic Filing of Campaign Statements and Statements of Economic Interests).

FISCAL IMPACT
