SUMMARY OF COMMISSION ACTION
The Arts Commission considered this item on August 17, 2022 and ranked the proposals in the following order (Attachment 16):
1. Liz Hickok
2. Phillip Hua
3. Peter Wegner
4. Vickie Jo Sowell
5. Endicott & Brook (tied with Carrie Lederer)
5. Carrie Lederer (tied with Endicott & Brook)
7. Arteclettica
8. Ben Phipps
9. Ragini Prasad
10. David Middlebrook
The Arts Commission voted 4-0 to recommend the top four artists for approval.
Following City Council selection of artists/artwork, staff will implement the decision by contracting with the selected artists and determining a schedule for completion and installation of the artwork. Contracts will be in the range of $20,000 and will be executed by the City Manager as the contract amount is within his awarding (signature) authority.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall, at the Sunnyvale Public Library, Senior Center, Community Center and in the Department of Public Safety Lobby. In addition, the agenda and report are available at the Sunnyvale Public Library, Office of the City Clerk, and on the City's website.

1. Approve the Arts Commission recommendation of the four highest ranked artist proposals:

2. Do not accept the Arts Commission recommendation and approve different artists.
3. Take other action as directed by Council.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
There is no staff recommendation for this project. Pursuant to the Art in Public Places procedures, the Arts Commission is authorized to rank the conceptual design proposals and develop a recommendation to the City Council for consideration and final approval. All ten artist proposals, including the four proposals from the Commission’s recommended artists, meet the public art requirements set for this public art project.
