SUMMARY OF COMMISSION ACTION
The Parks and Recreation Commission considered this item on December 14, 2022.
The Parks and Recreation Commission asked questions that staff was able to answer about features that are not included in the Preferred Concept Plan, such as a water play/splash pad feature, a shade structure over the informal seating area, and rentable ping pong equipment and bean bags for the cornhole toss. The water play feature was not included in deference to the drought and because it would activate and remove more pond area. There are some trees surrounding the amphitheater area for shade. As the project nears completion, staff can evaluate if equipment for ping pong and corn hole could be provided to park users. The Parks and Recreation Commission voted 4-0, with Commissioner Mason absent, to recommend that Council approve the Preferred Concept Plan for the Community Center Grounds Renovation Project as shown on Attachment 6 of this report.
At the time of conceptual design, the analysis for costs to bring Wi-Fi to the Community Center grounds had not been completed. A separate recommendation will be brought to City Council for consideration at a later date.

Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board, on the City’s website, and the availability of the agenda and report in the Office of the City Clerk.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Approve the Preferred Concept Plan for the Community Center Grounds Renovation Project as shown on Attachment 6 of the report and Find the Action is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15262.
2. Provide other direction to staff as the Council deems appropriate.
