- Bicycle ride along El Camino Real for No Kings Protest on Saturday, Oct. 18  
starting at noon from E Remington Drive and El Camino Real. More information on

Hans Bernhardt, member of the public, commented on the following:  
- Working on this year's fourth annual Sunnyvale Halloween Crow Ride taking place  
on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m., meeting at Plaza del Sol.  
Jordan Moldow, member of the public, commented on the following:  
- City of San Jose potentially doing a similar design to Sunnyvale's bidirectional  
paths on Tasman Drive.  
- Hoping that City of Sunnyvale and City of San Jose staff along with the public will  
advocate to try to get City of Santa Clara to do the same so the entire Tasman Drive  
corridor would be covered.

Recommend to Council an Alternative for Hollenbeck Bike  
Lane Study  
Alternative 3: Recommend to City Council to approve Option 2B, to remove  
on-street parking on the east side of the street on Hollenbeck Avenue between  
Danforth Drive and The Dalles Avenue, and implement Class II bicycle lanes  
between Danforth Drive and Alberta Avenue, find that the action is exempt from  
CEQA pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c) and Public Resources Code  
Section 21080.25(b)(1). Recommend that the City Council direct staff to include the  
concept plan as an unfunded project in the FY 2025/26 Budget pending future  
identification of funding  
Erik Trujillo, Transportation Planner and Ollie Zhou, Vice President and Principal  
Associate from Hexagon Transportation Consultants, Inc., gave a presentation.

- With parking being removed on one side of the street, why is there no room for  
buffering on the remaining section of the street  
Mr. Trujillo responded.  
Vice Chair Beagle asked about the following:  
- What the City is doing to help with lowering vehicle speeds  
- Examples of tools that the traffic calming program has that could be used for a  
residential collector  
- Clarification on Hollenbeck Avenue speed limit  
- City policies General Plan LUTE Chapter 3 LT-3.8, 3.9, and 3.10  
- What procedures the City has to enforce no parking on sidewalks  
- How many times staff went out and did parking observations  
Angela Obeso, Transportation & Traffic Manager, Mr. Trujillo and Mr. Zhou

Commissioner Gollakota asked about the following:  
- Land use zoning for the area  
- Comparison to North Sunnyvale Avenue near Bishop Elementary School  
- Whether counting of parking spaces was done during school drop-off time

- Street parking not necessarily being used by resident but by services, for example:

Commissioner Mehlman commented on the following:  
- Streets are for transportation, not vehicle storage  
- Lack of bicycle traffic on Hollenbeck Avenue due to the lack of sense of safety  
- Better line of sight when exiting driveways with removal of on-street parking  
- Reduced vehicle speeds with installation of bike lanes

- The need to install bike lanes before injury or death of a rider

- Benefits of on-street parking removal and installation of bike lanes

- Challenges some residents would face with removal of on-street parking  
Vice Chair Beagle made a motion to recommend to City Council to approve Option  
1. Commissioner Hafeman seconded the motion. Vice Chair Beagle stated that  
Option 1 is the only option in alignment with City policy and will improve the overall  
safety and accessibility of the Hollenbeck Avenue corridor for the public.  
Commissioner Bonne stated that willing to change will make the City better for  
everyone.
