CALL TO ORDER  
Chair Kesting called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.

PRESENTATION  
A
Youth and Teens Overview  
Jesus Raygoza, Recreation Service Manager, presented an overview of Youth and  
Teens services. Highlights included: summer camp enrollment totals, year round  
programs, Columbia Neighborhood Center highlights, teen programming,  
recruitment, and expansion.  
Commissioners asked about volunteer age minimum, camp registration date, and  
expanding youth and teen programs throughout north/south Sunnyvale locations.

Golf and Tennis Reports  
Jim Stark, Superintendent of Parks and Golf, presented a report on Golf and  
Tennis. He was accompanied by Rodney Wilson, Golf Operations Manager, and  
Michael Scadden, General Manager of Lifetime Tennis. Highlights included: golf  
courses, capital projects, summer camps, restaurants, Las Palmas Tennis Center,  
state of tennis, pickle ball facility improvements, and introduction of padel.  
Commissioners asked how mini golf companies and Top Golf impact golf in general,  
if there will be open tennis courts for residents residing near Las Palmas Park,  
adding golfing usage stats to future reports, and use of Park Dedication Fund.

Commissioner Bremond moved and Chair Kesting seconded the motion to  
Approve the Consent Calendar as submitted.

STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES

Cultural Green Space  
Commissioner Gatanni presented on his potential study issue - a cultural green  
space for special events.  
Commissioners and staff discussed Council's study session regarding special event  
permits.  
Commissioners did a random voice vote. The study issue was sponsored by a 3-2  
vote.  
NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS

Chair Kesting asked Council Liaison Melton to provide an overview of Council's  
discussion regarding ESD 24-01 regarding pros and cons of natural fields vs.  
artificial turf.  
Additionally, Chair Kesting asked staff to provide a presentation on Council's  
decision to approve natural fields instead of artificial turf at Lakewood Park.  
-Staff Comments  
Council Liaison Melton provided an update on Las Palmas Park renovation timeline  
and informed the Commission that the City is planning to rename the dog park after  
the fallen police canine, Jax.  
Damon Sparacino, Superintendent of Recreation Services, provided an recap for  
the Lakewood Branch Library ground breaking event.
