Chair Wang called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.

STUDY SESSION  
PRESENTATION - Silicon Valley Reads  
Julie Moore, Adult Services Librarian and Lynette Yorks, Youth Services Librarian,  
presented on Silicon Valley Reads. Highlights included: the history of Silicon Valley  
Reads; this year's theme: Empowering Humanity: Technology for a Better World;  
and books and programs for adult, teens and youth.  
PRESENTATION - Sustainability Initiatives  
Jack Niggli, Literacy Librarian and Chaunacey Dunklee, Supervising Librarian  
presented on Sustainability at Sunnyvale Public Library. Highlights included: library  
sustainability, sustainable programs, sustainable collections, partnerships, and next  
steps.  
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS  
None.

Motion: Vice Chair Juttukonda moved and Board Member Hu seconded the motion  
to approve the Consent Calendar.

NON-AGENDA ITEMS AND COMMENTS  
-Board Member Comments  
Board Members asked about grants the library may currently have that are federally  
funded. We currently have no federally funded grants.  
-Staff Comments  
Garrett Kuramoto, Superintendent of Libraries spoke about:  
-February is Black History Month and we have lots of programs and events such as:  
Salt Painted Masks on Feb. 6; Movie Fruitdale Station on Feb. 16; Kiddie Concert:  
Soul 4Kidz on Feb. 21; and Traffic Light craft on Feb. 24.  
Council Liaison Larry Klein spoke about:  
-Council will be choosing a new Board of Library Trustees member before the  
March 3 meeting.
