Pickleball Update
Tracey Gott, provided a presentation on pickleball. Highlights included: current
offerings, comparison to other cities, the outdoor sports assessment, and next
steps.
Commissioners asked why Serra park was not included in the recommendation of
the sports assessment study, and are the rankings for park locations recommended
for pickle ball courts included in the study?
Emilie and Constance, in person members of the public, provided a public comment
presentation on Input from the Sunnyvale pickleball community for free pickleball, to
convert two tennis courts at Serra park to pickleball courts.
Andy, Promod, Audrey, Natalie, Duong, and Ed, expressed support for pickleball
due to its accessibility, and the social aspects of it.
Henry, expressed some noise concerns with pickleball courts when they have close
proximity to houses, and the fairness aspect if tennis courts were converted to
pickleball courts.
Susan, a member of the public who joined online, expressed support for converting
some tennis ball courts to pickleball courts at Serra park as a pilot.
Sunika expressed support for more pickleball courts in Sunnyvale, but asked if it is
possible to see data on the parking utilization.

Study Issues Update
Jesus Raygoza, Superintendent of Recreation Services, provided a presentation on
the PRC Purview and Study/Budget Issue Process. Highlights included: Council
policy statement, board and commission bylaws, workplan example, study/budget
issue process and timeline, study issue proposal, budget proposal form, and a study
issue update.
