Chair Wang called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Approve the Board of Library Trustees Meeting Minutes of April 3, 2023 as

PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS

Review Recommended FY 2023/24 Budget  
Tim Kirby, Director of Finance, presented the FY 2023/24 budget to the board.  
Highlights included: citywide revenues, expenditures, reserve balances, and project  
updates on the Lakewood Branch Library and Civic Center Phase II.  
No action was taken by the board.  
Chair Wang opened the public hearing, and there being no public testimony, closed  
the public hearing.  
STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES  
NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS  
-Board Member Comments  
Board Members commented on the auto renewals process, and asked for a Sister  
City update at an upcoming meeting.  
-Staff Comments  
Superintendent of Libraries, Steve Sloan spoke about: Firefighter storytime which  
brought in more than 300 patrons, Earth Day events, National Library Week events,  
May the 4th be with you events, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage  
Month events, the increase in off-site programs, and the upcoming Summer  
Reading Program.
