CALL TO ORDER  
Pursuant to Government Code Subdivision 54953(e), the meeting was conducted  
telephonically; pursuant to state law, the City Council made the necessary findings  
by adopting Resolution No. 1089-21 on October 26, 2021.  
Chair Wickham called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. via teleconference.

PRESENTATION  
PRESENTATION - Superfund Sites in Sunnyvale  
(Commissioner presentation)  
Chair Wickham shared a summary of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA)  
Superfund Program and the status of Superfund Sites in Sunnyvale. Commissioners  
asked clarifying questions, and Chair Wickham responded.  
Chair Wickham open public comment.  
Vincent Anderson, Civilian Fire Marshal for the City of Sunnyvale, thanked Chair  
Wickham for her presentation.  
Chair Wickham closed public comment.

Approve the Sustainability Commission Meeting Minutes of  
October 18, 2021  
Commissioner Wang moved, and Commissioner Veitch seconded, a motion to  
approve the consent calendar.

Approve 2022 Master Work Plan  
The Commission reviewed and discussed finalizing the Draft 2022 Master Work  
Plan. The Draft Work Plan was prepared by staff in consultation with the Chair and  
Vice Chair and reflects topics prioritized by the Commission.  
Chair Wickham opened the public hearing.

Commissioner Pistone moved, and Commissioner Wang seconded, a motion to  
approve the 2022 Master Annual Work Plan, as amended.

Sustainability Speaker Series Subcommittee Handoff  
The former members of the Sustainability Speaker Series Subcommittee gave an  
overview of the materials distributed via staff to the new Subcommittee members.  
New Subcommittee members asked questions and former Subcommittee members  
and staff provided responses.

Annual Review of Code of Ethics and Conduct for Elected and  
Appointed Officials  
Madeline Willett, Environmental Engineering Coordinator, described the changes  
and updates to the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Elected and Appointed Officials  
(hereafter, Code of Ethics) between 2020 and 2021. Commissioners asked  
clarifying questions and staff provided responses.  
Chair Wickham opened the public hearing.

Commissioner Srinivasan moved, and Commissioner Wang seconded, a motion  
declaring that the Commissioners have read and will abide by the rules of the Code  
of Ethics.

STANDING ITEM: CONSIDERATION OF POTENTIAL STUDY ISSUES  
No new Study Issues were submitted.  
NON-AGENDA ITEMS & COMMENTS  
-Commissioner Comments  
Chair Wickham encouraged Commissioners who had interest in other City Boards  
or Commissions to review their agendas and identify items of interest to the  
Sustainability Commission. She shared that Senator Josh Becker will provide a  
summary of COP26 online during a webinar on November 16, 2021, at noon. Chair  
Wickham also noted that the City of Half Moon Bay will hold hearings on two  
building electrification ordinances at their City Council meeting on November 16,  
2021.  
Commissioner Veitch shared that 50 community members attended the Sunnyvale  
BayREN Homeowner Energy Efficiency and Electrification webinar on October 28,  
2021. She encouraged Commissioners to attend future Behavior, Energy and  
Climate Change conferences (BECC).  
Commissioner Pistone recommended that Commissioners look at the key  
takeaways and summaries from the United Nations Climate Change Conference,  
COP26.  
-Staff Comments  
Ms. Willett thanked Commissioner Veitch for her support with the BayREN webinar  
and reminded Commissioners they can find upcoming Council items of interest on  
the Tentative Council Meeting Agenda Calendar (TCMAC).  
Nupur Hiremath, Environmental Programs Manager, shared that Shannon Keener  
has joined the team as an Environmental Programs Specialist working on  
sustainability programs.
