CALL TO ORDER  
Pursuant to Government Code Subdivision 54953(e), the meeting was conducted  
telephonically; pursuant to state law, the City Council made the necessary findings  
by adopting Resolution No. 1089-21, reaffirmed on August 22, 2022.  
Chair Eskridge called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. via teleconference.

PRESENTATION

Great Candy Cane Hunt  
Jessica Truong, Recreation Services Coordinator, provided a presentation on the  
Great Candy Cane Hunt. Highlights included: event scope, who can apply, how to  
apply, and important dates.  
Commissioners asked and staff responded:  
Are Commissioners precluded from participating in the Great Candy Cane Hunt?  
No, Commissioners would be able to participate with Sunnyvale businesses,  
non-profit organizations and neighborhood associations.

Yarn Art in the Park  
Agnes Veith, Arts Commissioner, provided a presentation on the Yarn Art in the Park  
project. Highlights included: Arts and Humanities Month, project scope, examples,  
and flyer.  
Commissioners Filley and Kauffman volunteered to assist with the October 8, 2022  
workshop.

Approve the Arts Commission Meeting Minutes of August 17,  
2022  
Approve the Arts Commission Minutes of August 17, 2022 as submitted.  
PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS

Recommend that Council Approve the Deaccession of the  
Untitled Ceramic Mural by Artists Danny Sheu and Jeff  
Bordona (1998) from the City’s Permanent Art Collection  
Kristin Dance provided a presentation on the Deaccession of the Untitled Ceramic  
Mural. Highlights included: scope and images of the ceramic mural.  
Motion: Commissioner Filley moved and Commissioner Kauffman seconded the  
motion to approve Recommend Council Approve the Deaccession of the Untitled  
Ceramic Mural by Artists Danny Sheu and Jeff Bordona (1998) from the City's  
Permanent Art Collection  
Formal Amendment: Commissioner Filley moved and Commissioner Kauffman  
seconded the motion for staff look for alternative ways to utilize the materials other  
than sending them to recycling. The motion carried by the following vote:

Commissioner Filley noted that utility art boxes in Vancouver had aerial photographs  
of iconic scenes and recommended that Sunnyvale explore that option in future  
projects.
